It builds and repairs tissues, produces enzymes, hormones, and other chemicals that the body needs. It is also an important part of your dog’s bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. The good proteins in dog food come from animal sources like meat, fish, and eggs. Check the label and read the ingredients to find out what type of protein is in the food. Avoid animal “digestion”. Most good dog foods contain two or three animal proteins in the first ingredients.
